Carole Alden at Silver Reef Museum/Cosmopolitan
Born 1960 in Orleans France, I grew up in the western United States. An entirely self-taught visual artist, I work with whatever materials I have access to, whether it be welding or yarn. Past exhibits have included every museum in the state of Utah, the Muckenthaler in California, The Museum of Decorative Arts in Little Rock, and the National Museum for Women in the Arts located in Washington DC. The Hogle Zoo wildlife exhibit is one of my yearly favorites. This past fall my “Fish House” was awarded best of show and purchased for the State of Utah’s permanent collection. This is in addition to my piece, “Desert Cradle” also in Utah’s art collection. Current work reflects my commuter relationship between Utah and New Orleans, celebrating the contrast between desert and water-based environments.
