The Arts to Zion Showcase Presents
Senior Showcase
Alexandra Chernosky
St. George based painter, Alexandra Chernosky, is a 21 year old artist who primarily works with watercolor paint. Alexandra has spent most of her life in Salt Lake City. Over the past few years, Alexandra has been pursuing her education in art at Utah Tech University. Being a senior this year, she is soon to be graduating with her BFA, Fall of 2024. After taking a wide variety of classes utilizing all different mediums of art, Alexandra has found herself partial towards watercolor painting. She loves the challenge that this medium brings. The translucency of the paint leaves little room for mistakes.Finding herself quite proficient in this medium, Alexandra has won first place in the Watercolor painting category at the Student/Faculty Sears show two years in a row.
As for the subject matter that this artist tends to paint, some may view it to be quite untraditional or perhaps a bit boring. Alexandra chooses to paint urban subjects and landscapes. Whether it be a dumpster or a piece of trash on the floor, this artist paints things that most people would not take a second look at. She seeks to capture the beauty in even the most dull objects. Alexandra draws inspiration from simply walking down the street. She advocates that there is a story waiting to be captured in every corner of the world. Alexandra hopes to push the boundaries of what can be considered a “beautiful” thing to paint. This artist seeks to leave her viewer taking even just a second more of their time to appreciate all of the mundanities making up this world.
