Robert Ford

Robert E. Ford, MPH, Phd, is a semi-retired geoscientist, agriculture and public health specialist, development consultant, conservationist, and geotourism photographer focused on Africa, Europe, Asia, Latin America and the Inter-Mountain West–particularly Southern Utah.  After officially retiring in 2010 he took time-off to travel across America, study digital photography, and build a home in Rockville Utah near Zion National Park.

Lisa Benham

My endless curiosities carve diverging and reconverging paths which continue to defy simple categorization. Landscape painter? Fiber artist? Illustrator? Photographer? Assemblage and metal sculptor? Even during my career as a web and digital graphic designer in Silicon Valley, my CV opened with the description “radical generalist.” “What if…?” seeps into many portions of my creative process.

I enjoy learning traditional foundations, soon to watch myself run amok, blending disciplines and breaking boundaries, often including those literal edges of the art pieces themselves.

The natural world remains an endless source of wonder and wellbeing for me, and I feel almost remiss when not lending at least some creative eye or homage, daily, to nature’s endless treasures. My professional time as an outdoor guide along with my environmental academic background further enhance the dizzying fractal depths and simultaneous simplicities with which nature presents itself, everywhere. I humbly try to capture what too often feels inexpressible, as I build small, fleeting artifacts — love totems to what I see, feel, and wonder upon.

Jack Burns

Jack Burns was born and raised in Minnesota.  He later lived in Tucson, Arizona and it was there he first showed his work in a gallery.  In 1982 he accepted a seasonal job at Zion Lodge and the following year as a park ranger with the National Park Service at Zion.  He retired from Zion after a 36-year career.  He is a resident of Springdale, Utah.

Artist Statement: I enjoy exploring with the abstraction of realism and the Southern Utah landscape lends itself nicely to that. Each painting presents a challenge to capture a moment, experience or feeling. I think it is important to recognize when a painting is pulling itself in a direction all its own and letting it happen.  That for me is the beauty and spirit of the creative process.

Willamarie Huelskamp

I have been a fulltime artist and painter for almost 40 years. For 17 years I taught painting and drawing classes for the University of Utah’s Life Long Learning Program including plein-air painting and sketching classes in many parts of the world.

Starting as a painter of both figures and landscapes I reached a point in my career where I could no longer paint what was in front of my eye in a literal way, I wanted my art work to speak about my thoughts and feelings, my inner world. Part cartoon and part fine art, line and shape and pattern create a visual story that is told through my own personal unique voice and style.

Susan Grove

Susan Grove has been painting professionally for over 25 years, but her connection to fine art runs much deeper. Long before she became known for her large-scale murals across Washington County, Utah, she was quietly building a body of work rooted in storytelling, texture, and emotional resonance. Her fine art practice has always been a steady undercurrent—an intimate space where she explores themes of nature, memory, and transformation.

Susan’s work is characterized by warmth and movement, often blending organic forms with layered surfaces that invite close looking. Whether she’s painting a wall or working on canvas, her approach is intuitive and deeply personal. She draws inspiration from the landscapes around her, the people she paints for, and the quiet moments that shape everyday life.

Her murals may be the most visible part of her career, but her fine art is where she returns to reflect, experiment, and reconnect with the essence of her craft. In this exhibition, Susan shares pieces that speak to that quieter side—works that carry the same heart and vision, just on a different scale.
