Hamlet
Presented by Utah Shakespeare Festival at Engelstad Shakespeare Theatre Cedar City, UT
Prince Hamlet seeks truth—and vengeance. Haunted by his father’s death and disillusioned by a corrupt court, he struggles with doubt, and the weight of his own inaction. As he plots revenge against his uncle, now king, Hamlet spirals deeper into isolation and existential crisis. Written at the height of Shakespeare’s genius, Hamlet is a gripping exploration of conscience, power, and how the burdens of the past shape the future in Shakespeare’s most haunting and psychologically rich tragedy. The Cottage
Presented by The Stage Door at The Electric Theater Center Saint George, UT
BY SANDY RUSTIN Set in 1923 England, Sandy Rustin's romantic farce is a Noël Coward-inspired comedy of manners centered on a cascading web of extramarital affairs. The play opens with Sylvia Van Kipness and Beau at their annual countryside rendezvous. Sylvia, tired of secrecy, sends a telegram to both her husband, Clarke, and Beau's wife, Marjorie, exposing their year-long affair and demanding they start a new life. The situation spirals into chaos with the arrival of the uninvited spouses, only to reveal an even bigger shock: Clarke and Marjorie are also having a long-standing affair. As secrets and alliances shift among the six characters (including Marjorie's sister, Dierdre), the group must navigate their entangled betrayals through witty banter and physical comedy (including a prop porcupine). Ultimately, the characters embrace a liberated, non-traditional arrangement, rejecting rigid societal expectations in favor of a chaotic but honest resolution that questions the meaning of love and marriage. Twelfth Night
Presented by Utah Shakespeare Festival at Engelstad Shakespeare Theatre Cedar City, UT
In Twelfth Night, love is anything but simple. Duke Orsino pines for Olivia, who falls for Cesario—unaware that “he” is actually Viola in disguise, and Viola secretly loves Orsino. Malvolio dreams of romance and status, and Sir Toby, Sir Andrew, and Maria stir up mischief and revelry. Full of mistaken identities, unrequited affections, and witty banter, this beloved comedy proves that love often finds us when—and where—we least expect it.
