Harry Bertoia was an midcentury modern designer and monumental metal sculptor. His iconic wire grid Diamond chair and his public fountain sculptures are immediately recognizable. The sounding sculptures, Sonambient, were some of the first art pieces to combine art with music, and now you can experience a concert right at our gallery! Bertoia’s welding techniques are elegant and smooth, while his monotypes exhibit the delicacy of ink on paper. His major influence was nature and all of his varied works resemble organic forms whether they be bushes, dandelions or cattails.
