Navajo Rugs, on the other hand, are different. These authentic hand-woven rugs are colorful, often hung on stands to be admired. The work was time-consuming and complex. However, the Navajo made their rugs to be used as needed.
The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers McQuarrie Memorial Museum will feature Ginny Sparks, retired Operating Room Nurse, author, and rug weaver, on their Third Weekend Event in November. Ms. Sparks is a Navajo with a fascinating history of trials, heritage, and learning.
The presentation will be November 16 at 10:00 a.m. at the McQuarrie Memorial Museum. The museum is located at 145 North 100 East in St. George. Admission is always free, and it is handicap accessible. More information about the Museum can be found at or 435-628-7472.
